Hanford, CA: Asia Garden Chinese Restaurant

Yesterday, after Daniel and I watched a 49er game (we lost! ugh), we decided to eat out. Well honestly, it’s more like I forced Daniel to eat. I actually felt guilty as I know he is currently on a diet (starvation mode) for his Navy PRT test. For that test, he needs to keep certain body measurements to pass it. But he is a good husband. He can’t let his wife starve. Lol

Anyways, I had few restaurants (around Hanford) in mind that I want to try, one of them is this Chinese restaurant called Asia Garden. This tiny restaurant is conveniently located in 505 E 7th St, Hanford, CA, right at the intersection of White Street and Seventh Street.

THE FOOD: It’s only the two of us, plus my hubby is on diet, so we really can’t order too much. But I told myself that I will go through each item on their menu in our next visit/s.

Our Quick Trip to Hollywood

Hello friends! It’s been a while. I have tons of stories that I would like to share with you all. First story would be our quick trip to the sunny and glittery Hollywood in Los Angeles. This story has been in my backlog list for months now. So, without further ado, let me share with you our mini Hollywood trip.

We parked right across Dolby Theatre. It’s where the Oscars are held.

Who hasn’t heard of Hollywood? I’ve wanted to visit this place for years and finally got the chance when I moved here in the US, on a spousal visa. First impression; it’s not what I expected it to be. Not bad, it’s just that I have always thought this place would be glamorous and all just like what I see on TV. I felt sad seeing a lot of homeless people camping along the side walk.

Anyways, the first thing we did when we got there (besides finding a parking space in which we end up paying $20) was strolling down the Hollywood Walk of Fame searching for our favorite’s stars. We spent 25 minutes looking for Ellen DeGeneres’s star, but unfortunately, we couldn’t find it. But we did found some of our favorites; Bruce Willis, Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, and many more.

Mederma: The Most Effective Scar Treatment Gel I've Ever Tried

Please note that I am not affiliated with this company, and I am not getting paid for writing this review. I am just a very satisfied customer, and I want to share my experience with Mederma.

On January of this year, my cat accidentally scratched my face - a very lengthy and deep scratch – an inch from my right eye down to my jaw line. I would lie if I’d say I didn’t get upset when I saw my bloody face, but I can’t blame Amber because it was an accident and I know my cat loves me. Honestly, when that accident happen the first thing I had in mind was, “shit, this will leave a crazy big scar!” Yup, that’s how pathetic I can get when it comes to scar. But who doesn’t? Scar can make almost anyone feel self-conscious.

Anyway, after that accident, I spent tons of time searching through Google of ways on how I can avoid scarring. I tried everything. I took care of my wound really good. I did the “wound moist healing”, and it was very effective. I kept my wound moist by putting petroleum jelly and Bactroban antibiotic ointment.

California Pizza Kitchen - National Pizza Day 2016

Let’s talk about pizza! My favorite pizza place, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), is celebrating National Pizza Day on August 15 and 16, by bringing back their successful annual promo campaign. On these days, guests who visit any of CPK’s eight locations can enjoy buy-one-get-one-free pizza, choosing among an exclusive selection of five premium pizzas that embody the spirit of California Creativity that the brand is famous for.

For this promotion, CPK is bringing back five of their fan favorite pizzas: Salami + Bacon Pizza, Hawaiian Pepperoni Pizza (my personal favorite!), Garlic Chicken Pizza, Mixed Vegetarian Pizza and Traditional Cheese Pizza. As it is expected from CPK, all pizzas will be served with the highest quality fresh and seasonal ingredients, hearth-baked atop CPK’s legendary hand-tossed dough.

First Camping Trip at South Fork Campground in Sequoia

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a good day. It’s been a little while since the last time I posted something. I have been really busy with work and personal stuff since I got here in the US. I truly apologize for not posting often, but I promise I will try to update my blog as often as I can.

Today, I want to share with you something that I have been wanting to do since I was a kid. Camping! Yup, camping is one of the many things I have on my bucket list. When hubby told me that he wanted us to go camping with the kids for the 4th of July long weekend, I said yes right away. I was excited because I never really experience a real camping trip. I remember camping at our school when I was in grade school but that was just within our school ground, not in a real camp site.

My Cat Accidentally Scratched My Face, Leaving a Lengthy Wound

My handsome cat, Amber, loves staying on top of my cabinet. It's his territory. While I was working, he accidentally fell on me. Not too sure what happened, either he was playing or was changing position while sleeping, but he accidentally slipped on the side of the cabinet and fell on me. He was scared and automatically reached with his front paws for something to grasp onto and he reached my face. And yes, one of his claws accidentally scratched my face leaving a very lengthy wound. Ouch!

Mrs. Scar Face! Ouchie!

I knew right away that I got hurt. With my hand on my cheek, I felt the blood running down my face. I run to the mirror to check the damage, and yikes, Amber almost got my eyes. The wound is really lengthy an inch from my right eye, down to my jaw line. I would lie if I’d say I didn’t get upset when I saw my face. I wasn’t thinking how badly I got hurt; I was more concerned of the scar after the wound heals. But at the same time, I can’t blame Amber because I know it was merely an accident. My cats never did anything in the past that would hurt me. They are all sweet to me and very loving.

Our US Spousal Visa Journey: Processing and Getting Approved

Hello, everyone. I hope you are all doing great. I got my US Spousal Visa, from US Embassy-Manila, delivered a couple weeks ago. Since then, I've received tons of emails from people asking me the same questions. Instead of replying each person individually, I've decided to share the whole experience here. I will share with you how my husband and I processed my US spousal visa (IR1) from filing up forms, to paying fees, getting interviewed and waiting for my actual visa.

Before I move forward, I want to share with you a no-brainer tip in getting your visa approved prepare all the needed documents (both originals and photocopies), follow instructions, be honest during the interview, and do not hesitate to ask questions or do your own research if you are confused over something.

DIY Letter Standees Using Styrofoam and Acrylic Paint

Hello there! It’s been a while since the last time I posted a DIY project. Today I want to show you a project idea that is easy to make and would give your event that much needed pop. Letter standees are in nowadays, and because of that, they are getting quite pricey as well. But worry no more; you can actually make these props on your own - whether it’s for a birthday party, a wedding, a prom, or other events. I made mine for my godson’s first birthday

Buffet 101 International Cuisine - Glorietta 2, Makati City

Rex, a good friend of mine, took me and Robert to dinner sometime last year. Yes, this is yet again another long overdue blog update. It was his birthday. We’re supposed to have steak at Bubba Gump’s but we changed our minds and decided to go with Buffet 101 International Cuisine instead, which I thought was a good idea since we both love to eat a lot.

Buffet 101 International Cuisine has several locations in Metro Manila; this branch is the one closest to where I live. Located at the New Glorietta 3rd Floor, Glorietta 2, Ayala Center, in Makati City, this place exudes an air of smart, refined elegance with their luxury-hotel-like ambiance — with lovely luxurious decors and appetizing lighting.

Note that I was only able to take few pictures of the place and the food because it was too crowded, and I was having a hard time moving around. Now – without further ado, here's our dinner experience at Buffet 101.

Kirstyn’s Book-Inspired Birthday Cake

My eldest step daughter, Kirstyn, turned 12 last January 15. Her Daddy wasn’t able to celebrate her birthday with her as she spent it with her Mom. Though it’s a bit late, Daniel still wants to give Kirstyn a little birthday celebration.

Our Kirstyn is a big reader. She and I both love books and reading. So Hubby decided to get her a book-inspired cake. Hubby ordered it through Lina's Custom Cakes (visit her facebook page, she’s amazing). Isn’t this the cutest cake ever? Talk about devouring a book – literally! My mouth actually watered just looking at this cake. I'd also like to have one on my birthday. Ha-ha!

Have a wonderful day. J

My Medical Examination Experience at St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic (Visa Interview Requirement)

It’s been months since hubby and I have been working on my spousal visa going to the US. Yes, we finally decided that it is about time for us to live together — after being away from each other for 3 years (total of 6 years since we started our relationship). And now that we finally got my interview date, I started working on the additional requirements needed for my interview.

Medical exam, I believe, is one of the most important parts of the whole immigration process. The US is very careful when it comes to the health of the people going in and out of their country, which I believe is for the common good of everyone.

Before I start telling you my experience, I want to remind everyone that the US Embassy only accredits medical examination from St. Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic. NO, you cannot have your medical tests done elsewhere.

Kaya Korean Restaurant - Glorietta 2, Makati City

It’s not really surprising that I am crazy over Korean food and culture, as some of your know how addicted I am with Korean dramas. Whenever I get a chance, I always try to eat out or search for a new Korean restaurant in my area. Kaya Korean Restaurant is not new, though I have tried their food through Food Panda delivery a couple of times, I still want to dine here just to check what my other options are…and freshly cooked food tastes slightly better than those delivered ones.

My Top 10 (Favorite) Best Korean Dramas of 2015

Hello there. How’s your 2016 going? Today I am posting a general response to the question I’m asked most: what’s your favorite Korean drama in 2015? I’ve answered that question timidly most of the time, but today seemed like an appropriate time to finally hash it out.

I honestly had a hard time putting together my top 10 list. 2015 has been fascinating year for Korean Dramas. You have no idea how many times I’ve changed this list – swapping this drama for that, moving this drama up or down the list a few notches – as I look back with all the dramas I’ve watched in 2015, indecisiveness took hold. But don’t worry you guys, I got it together. I love a lot of dramas last year, and I could’ve easily expanded this list to Top 20, but I want to stick with Top 10 that I am quite happy with. So without further ado, I present to you my Top 10 (favorite) Korean dramas of 2015.

10. Mrs. Cop

Main Cast:
Kim Hee Ae as Choi Young Jin
Kim Min Jong as Park Jong Ho
Lee Da Hee as Min Do Young
Son Ho Joon as Han Jin Woo

My Short Review: Mrs. Cop is a solid cop drama. I love Kim Hee Ae’s character – smart, strong, admirable woman who sticks to her principle and a good leader who truly earns the respect of her team. The plot was satisfying. There are flaws along the way, but I ignored them as I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey with our cops. I love how the team are perfectly balanced and work together seamlessly. They always get the job done. And we got some kissing, that’s all I asked for. Haha!
